When Life Gives You Lemon is an experimental short film born from instinct, discomfort, and the surreal. Created during the pandemic for my Alternative Cinema class, the project emerged from my deep dive into dreams and surrealism—cinematic languages that defy logic and embrace the subconscious. I set out to make a film that made itself, following intuition over structure, and leaning into the raw, the carnal, and the unsettling.

Shot entirely in one night using a green screen setup in my bedroom, the project reflects the isolation and improvisation of its time. This was also my first foray into Adobe After Effects, which I learned while editing the film—allowing me to manipulate space and presence in unexpected ways.

The result is a disjointed, dreamlike narrative that resists coherence, instead conjuring a discomforting ambience designed to provoke and disturb. When Life Gives You Lemon doesn’t offer answers—only sensations.
